Mosaics seem to be of interest to people lately. This is a fun mosaic tray I recently finished. It began with a pre-existing tray that had a fun collection of buttons underneath. I added stacks of marbles, a melted glass bottle, fused glass for the flower, a melted wine bottle of my moms that had a chip in it, and an assortment of other glass to make it a fun serving tray. Over the top of all of it, I put a clear piece of glass to make a nice smooth place to hold items. I do have this tray displayed at the Lenawee County Fair if you stop by. During the fair, I have been talking to a lot of people. One woman made a unique marble mosaic using a marble collection from a friend. It sounds like he collected these marbles since he was a boy... a collection that spans 80 +/- years. I asked her to send the mosaic in that she made using these marbles so I can post it on this blog. If anybody has a unique glass piece you made that you would like to share to inspire others, please send a photo and description of the piece to me so we can post it. People really like to see what can be done with every day objects.
I am a stained glass artist, wife to Tom for 30 years, and mother of 3 grown boys and a new daughter in law to be! I have currently added a new product, SendOutCards, to my list of available items. Try sending a free card by clicking on the link on this blog!
-Great Ideas, Tecumseh: Not only do they have great ideas for the interior design of your home or business, they got us involved in a voluntary glass build for the door of a family whose daughter is ill. Brian, my student from Vo-Tech has been working on it. You'll see details in this blog.
-Big Brothers/Big Sisters: I now have a new "Little Sister" and her name is Samantha. She is a very easy to entertain child and we are loving the times we spend together. They said they are in desperate need for Big Brothers for little boys who need a positive male role model. If you are that person, contact the Boys and Girls club in Lenawee County or Big Brothers/Big Sisters in your area.
-Churches: Periodically I volunteer to give stained glass to a church in need. I am continuing that tradition, but in order to do that, I need volunteers to help me work on those projects. If you are a glass artist - or wanna-be-glass artist, contact me, Pat, and I'll put you to work. The church community will appreciate your time and efforts. If you are a church with a question, please contact me as well.
